Cacapon Resort State Park was a site for nonstop family fun on Halloween, Saturday October 31.
Pumpkin carving at the nature center started in the morning, on a glorious day in Autumn. Contest entries sat on display to be admired.
Scenic hayrides ran throughout the afternoon, from the nature center winding through the upper ranges of the park.
Haunted hayrides at night have gained popularity in recent years, according to Valerie Chaney, Cacapon State Park naturalist and activities coordinator.
Activities concluded with a campfire in the picnic area to roast marshmallows, all “fun things for kids,” said Chaney.
The Tom & Virginia Seely Foundation provided pumpkins, candy and glowsticks for the occasion.
For more holiday family fun, pictures with Santa and craftmaking will be held at the lodge on Saturday, December 12.
